Guitar & Ukulele

Rebecca teaches guitar and ukulele for various genres: country, pop, Christian, and rock. Guitar and ukulele students spend time each week doing physical exercises to improve their technique. Students also learn new chords, riffs, leads, and more as they build their skills.

What will I learn in guitar/ukulele lessons?

Beginner students can expect to work on tuning, chords, simple songs and melodies, and basic note reading. Rebecca balances musicianship and fun by making sure that each lesson you are challenged with something new, but always end with something fun such as your favorite riff or song.

For children who love the guitar, but are just too small or can't tolerate the fingertip soreness that goes along with guitar playing, the ukulele is the perfect choice! A member of the guitar "family", the ukulele is much softer on little fingers and easy to hold for little hands. Ukulele is also a great instrument for beginners of any age!

What curriculum is used?

For beginners, there is no set repertoire. Rebecca moves at the pace of her students on an individual basis and tailors the lessons to fit the student's personal goals.

As students grow in their ability, Rebecca will find repertoire recommendations that continue to work toward that student's goals.

Do I need to bring my own instrument?

Yes, each student will need to bring his or her own instrument to lessons each week.
